Hi, I’m Roger Williams, a research analyst at Gartner. I cover Software Asset Management (SAM) tools, configuration management databases (CMDBs), IT Asset Management tools, and several other areas related to IT operations for IT leaders. I’ve been at Gartner for over 2 years now after spending 20+ years in retail IT.
IT operations is critical to business success, yet it can be difficult to determine how to best drive the improvements needed for the future. I want to help you stay in touch with all Gartner has to offer regarding IT operations coverage. In addition, I am an avid reader and enjoy sharing what I learn. My posts will tend to fall into three categories:
- Updates on Gartner research related to transforming IT operations
- My thoughts on recently read books (and some of my all-time favorites)
- Occasional posts on related topics
If you are responsible for, work in, or collaborate with I&O, you will find it valuable to keep tabs on this space. I’d love to get your feedback as well, so don’t hesitate to comment on any post. Of course, if you are a Gartner client, you can also schedule an inquiry.
The world of IT operations is changing. I want to help you maximize the value you get from our IT operations research, and make sure that you don’t miss out on insights that can help you be successful. More to come!
