What is Gartner Peer Insights Customers’ Choice?

In markets where there is enough reviews data, Gartner Peer Insights recognizes up to seven vendors that are the most highly rated by their customers through the Gartner Peer Insights Customers’ Choice distinction. This peer-rated distinction can be a useful complement to expert recognition, as it focuses on direct peer experiences of implementing and operating a solution.

Where do Gartner Peer Insights Customers’ Choice vendors appear?

Vendors named a Customers’ Choice are identified throughout the Gartner Peer Insights Voice of the Customer research document. This report complements the Magic Quadrant and Critical Capabilities (the “expert research”) for the same market, and was developed as an additional resource for end users in their buying process.

Vendors named a Customers’ Choice are also designated with the Customers’ Choice badge on the live Gartner Peer Insights site until the next Voice of the Customer research document is published for the same market. Because Gartner Peer Insights is a free, public review platform, all prospects, customers, competitors, and readers of the site are able to see the vendors named a Customers’ Choice.

Those vendors that are named a Gartner Peer Insights Customers’ Choice are able to promote their Customers’ Choice badge across all external marketing materials at no cost.

How can vendors prepare for an upcoming Voice of the Customer research document and Customers’ Choice designation?

While each organizations’ approach varies, the Gartner Peer Insights team suggests building a review sourcing program that results in consistent, programmatic sourcing throughout the year.

Every vendor listed on Gartner Peer Insights works directly with a Gartner Peer Insights Program Manager to learn more about the Customers’ Choice and strategize appropriately. If you do not know who your aligned Program Manager is, please reach out to PeerInsightsVendorSuccess@gartner.com

What is the criteria for Customers’ Choice?

Please see the Customers’ Choice Methodology for more information.

In the 8 weeks leading up to the Voice of the Customer and Customers’ Choice in a market, the Gartner Peer Insights team will make a Standings page live within the Technology Provider Tools Dashboard view. This information is designed to help vendors understand their position relative to Customers’ Choice.

Where can vendors see a timeline for upcoming Customers’ Choice?

Please see the Voice of the Customer Roadmap for more information. Kindly note that this list and the schedule are tentative and subject to change at the discretion of Gartner Peer Insights.

Within the Roadmap, the Gartner Peer Insights team lists the dates for review eligibility, when the Standings pages in the Dashboard will populate, and the last day reviews can be submitted for consideration.

The calendar for the Voice of the Customer document is based on the research publication calendar. After the Magic Quadrant or Market Guide publishes, the Gartner Peer Insights team will determine if the market meets the minimum review requirements for a Voice of the Customer document. Typically the Voice of the Customer document publishes 5 months after the corresponding Magic Quadrant or Market Guide publication. If the Magic Quadrant or Market Guide publication is delayed, the Voice of the Customer will be delayed accordingly.

Are vendors able to see their progress towards Customers’ Choice prior to the Standings page going live?

Vendors are able to filter reviews appropriately within the “Reviews” tab of the Technology Provider Tools by filtering by specific market and date range (starting with the review eligibility start date found on the Roadmap). Vendors should look to exclude Legacy products and reviews from less than $50M revenue as they are not eligible towards Voice of the Customer eligibility.

Please note that ratings displayed are not final. Gartner Peer Insights continuously audits reviews listed on the site. Review counts are dynamic and subject to change.

What can vendors expect when the sourcing deadline closes?

All reviews submitted by the sourcing deadline will be considered for the Voice of the Customer analysis as long as they pass our standard review moderation checks.

All vendors will be notified of their placement within the Voice of the Customer research document upon receipt of the courtesy preview of the research document. This courtesy preview is sent to vendors approximately 1 week prior to the report publishing.

Those that are placed in the Customers’ Choice Zone of Figure 1 will also be represented as a Customers’ Choice on the Gartner Peer Insights site when the report is published.

Please note – Vendors are able to make Customers’ Choice marketing materials live only after the corresponding Voice of the Customer document is published on Gartner.com and after the Customers’ Choice badges are updated on the live Gartner Peer Insights site to reflect the current year’s designees. Please be sure to send any marketing materials to Quote.Requests@gartner.com for approvals prior to going live.
