As I pack my bags to head to Orlando for Gartner Symposium/ITxpo I find myself introspecting. This event is where the rubber meets the road for Gartner’s value proposition – nowhere else have I encountered this mix of thought leadership, IT expertise, peer networking and caliber of attendee. The excitement from the attendees is energizing, and might be the only thing other than caffeine that gets me through the grueling schedule. Symposium also happens to coincide with my Gartner anniversary (my 10th this year), so I use it as a reaffirmation of why I love this job and company.
This year I’ve been looking at Symposium through a different lens and I’m proud to highlight the event experience we’re providing to midsize enterprise CIOs. Through 45+ exclusive sessions, we’re contextualizing our advice for their most relevant topics and providing numerous peer engagement opportunities. This webpage showcases the Midsize Enterprise (MSE) program and recommended agenda, along with some of the faces and names of my colleagues who will be interacting with MSE CIOs through roundtables, workshops, contract negotiation clinics, analyst one-on-ones, and “Ask the Analyst” sessions. You can see the full track on Events Navigator (login required to view some sessions).
We’ve put a lot of effort into crafting the MSE program as an “event within an event,” and as track manager, I’d love to get feedback on what worked well and what we can improve upon. Let’s chat in person (I’ll be at all 3 of the breakfast networking sessions, but don’t hesitate to introduce yourself if you see me somewhere else) or reach out on Twitter @neilwynne.
I look forward to meeting you in Orlando!
P.S. For clarity, Gartner defines a midsize enterprise (MSE) as an organization with between 100 and 1,000 employees and annual revenue between $50 million and $1 billion. However, if we dig into this a bit further, the most significant challenge MSE IT organizations face is delivering IT services with small IT teams (usually fewer than 50 people) and limited IT budgets (usually less than $20 million). If you fall within this range, then you are definitely our target audience for an MSE program at Gartner events and Gartner’s MSE-focused research.
