At our upcoming virtual Gartner IT Infrastructure, Operations & Cloud Strategies Conference taking place on December 7th through the 10th, we’ll have an array of compelling tracks covering important topics. One of those topics that produces a lot of questions for us analysts is Edge and Distributed Cloud. The underlying theme of this track is that to succeed in the digital era, I&O leaders must be willing to embark on “creative destruction” — fundamentally rethinking the technology architecture, processes and people required for next-generation workloads, including IoT, cloud and edge environments.
As a part of the Edge and Distributed Cloud track at this conference, there will be a number of presentations. These presentations will provide valuable insights in everything from edge strategy, to hybrid cloud storage, to microservices and containers, to Wi-Fi6, Wi-Fi7, 5G and CBRS. As an example, one presentation will provide an examination of tethered cloud. These include solutions like AWS Outposts, Google Anthos, Microsoft Azure Stack Hub and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
The title of this particular presentation is “The Impact of Tethered Cloud (e.g. AWS Outposts, Microsoft Azure Stack Hub) on Your Infrastructure.” This presentation will begin by outlining the challenges that tethered cloud presents (Figure 1).
It will then provide ways to overcome those challenges and an overview of the various providers and their tethered cloud solutions.
This is only one example of the kinds of edge and distributed cloud presentations that will be offered at this event. If you are interested in topics and tracks like this, the virtual Gartner IT Infrastructure, Operations & Cloud Strategies Conference is something that you won’t want to miss.
