Navigate Your Way to Digital Business

Digital business is quickly moving from concept to reality. CIOs and digital leaders need to harness resources to begin the transformation journey. To help clients on this journey, Gartner has curated a collection of over two dozen research reports that can help facilitate this process and deliver results titled “Navigate Your Way to Digital Business Transformation With These Resources”

In early 2014, we introduced the paradigm of digital business. We described it as a force that is reshaping industries and redefining the role of IT. It is also creating new and disruptive competitive advantage by blurring the digital and physical worlds (see “Agenda Overview for Digital Business, 2015”). Digital business helps to eliminate barriers that now exist among industry segments, while creating new value chains and business opportunities that traditional businesses cannot offer.  Every enterprise should re-examine its future strategy in a world of technology change driven by the convergence of social, mobile, information,  and cloud technologies. That convergence, known as the Nexus of Forces, is now amplified by the Internet of Things (IoT).

Yet, clients continue to ask us: Where do I start to build a digital business, and what do I need to do? What resources can I draw from? Our 3Q15 special report builds on previous research by re-emphasizing work from Gartner analysts focused on the how of digital business. This research collection provides clients with frameworks, vendor landscapes, Toolkits and perspective on how to take those first steps to becoming a digital business.

We cover such topics as: Vendor selection, Internet of Things, Digital ethics, Change management, Adaptive sourcing, Process automation, Go-to-market strategies, CRM and E-commerce

The centerpiece of this report is Gartner’s first ever “Market Guide for Digital Business Consulting Services.” This guide includes profiles of 17 consulting firms, highlighting how they help their clients initiate and implement digital transformation. CIOs and digital leaders can also select from research that focuses specifically on their own organizations’ challenges when transitioning to digital business. We categorize our research into:

  • Organizations investigating and understanding digital business
  • Organizations actively experimenting with digital business on a trial-and-error basis
  • Organizations that have some degree of digital business implementation — from pilot to deployment
