Belinda Wilson joined Gartner in 2012 and has been able to sharpen her expertise through various roles including Consulting Solutions Director, Recovery Services P&L Business Unit Director, and BC and Availability Solutions Marketing Director representing multiple businesses from software, hardware, and services. Not only has she applied her skills and expertise to her work at Gartner, but she has also extended her support outside of the workplace where she’s become a well-respected influencer in the industry.
The DRI (Disaster Recovery Institute International) is a non-profit founded in 1988 that is dedicated to helping organizations around the world prepare for and recover from disasters.
Each year, through their Awards of Excellence, the DRI recognizes individuals and organizations who have significantly contributed to the fields of continuity management, technology recovery, and crisis and risk management. The Lifetime Achievement Award is among the most prestigious of the Awards of Excellence, as it honors the most experienced professionals in the industry for the stellar work they have done throughout their careers. Belinda was nominated for the DRI Lifetime Achievement Award by a peer in the industry and was selected, along with 8 others, as a 2021 nominee. In recommending Belinda, this peer stated: “Belinda Wilson is without a doubt one of the most respected and knowledgeable people in our profession.”
Unlike other DRI Awards of Excellence, the Lifetime Achievement Award is bestowed on the individual who receives the most online votes from other certified industry professionals. “I am honored by winning such an award from my peers in the industry — many of whom I have worked with over 30 years,” said Belinda.
Belinda has worked diligently throughout her career to grow the field of disaster recovery and business continuity into a formal industry. She has published articles in outlets such as USA Today, Finance News, and others, and was even inducted into the Business and Continuity Management Hall of Fame for Vendor Practitioner by Contingency Planning & Management — another peer-given award.
“I am just amazed that something I was drawn to and passionate about 30 years ago has transpired into a formal profession with thousands of individuals. I’m humbled at the opportunities I have had to learn and provide support to our clients,” Belinda added. Her work is a true testament to the caliber of talent here at Gartner how their individual and collective efforts continue to positively impact the world we live in.
