I’m coming up on my sixth year of service with the U.S. Army National Guard – and what a journey it’s been. After completing my MBA at the University of Southern California, I knew that I wanted to start my career at a company where I could bring the skills and values I learned through the military and business school to the table. That’s when I found Gartner.
When I first learned about Gartner’s consulting team, I knew that it was the fit I was looking for. In my role as a consultant, I get to help clients get the most from technology investments with innovative strategies based on Gartner research.
Not only do I get great joy out of the work I get to do at Gartner, but I’ve also had the opportunity to continue serving my country. I’ve just returned from 18 weeks of military leave, during which I had to travel to Fort Huachuca, Arizona to complete military intelligence, physical fitness, and field training exercises after quarantining for 2 weeks.
The support and help from my team made my preparation to leave all the better. Not only did they help pick up some of my responsibilities, but were very understanding about the fact that my duty to the military is important to me. When I returned from leave, they helped me get right back to work on day 1 – everything was simple and smooth thanks to them.
Gartner is a great place for military members, spouses and veterans to consider working. The company supports diversity and inclusion through employee resource groups and the community these groups foster has helped me to network, connect and give back to the veteran community. I can truly say that my personal experiences are valued here – I know that I have the support system I need to pursue my passions, while always feeling that I have a helping hand there if needed.
