Recently, members from our recruiting team attended the Grace Hopper Celebration (GHC), the world’s largest gathering of women technologists, where women from around the world learn, network, and celebrate their achievements. Founded in 1994, this event celebrates the life and legacy of Admiral Grace Murray Hopper, who was a pioneer of gender diversity in the technology industry.
As a part of our commitment to hiring diverse talent, Gartner was a first-time sponsor of the 2020 event. This year’s celebration looked a little different from the year’s past, as COVID-19 safety regulations and guidelines led to the creation of the first-ever virtual Grace Hopper Celebration (vGHC).
The 30,000+ virtual attendees had the chance to hear from over 250+ inspiring female speakers, like Serena Williams and Meghan Rapinoe, connect with peers and mentors, and learn more about what a career at Gartner means for a woman in several technology-focused roles.
Female associates from our engineering, IT and product teams were also in attendance to speak about their own career paths. “It was very impressive to see the various backgrounds of the women who attended vGHC. It motivated me to set some personal goals to build upon my strengths and broaden my knowledge base,” said Srujana Siripurapu, Senior Software Engineer.
Attendees also had the opportunity to connect with members of the Gartner team for a virtual one-on-one session and learn more about our continued commitment to diversifying our workforce. “The event created an inclusive platform for us all to celebrate women in technology. It was incredible to share the Gartner brand with attendees and give guidance on how they can get involved with our growing organization,” said Presley Pender, University Recruiter.
Our team is looking forward to the upcoming virtual career fair event in December and continuing to attract top female talent to our growing organization.
