Gartner Gives: Our Associates Share their Volunteering Stories

Despite the added challenges of COVID-19, and working remotely, our teams have continued to seek opportunities to influence change and make a positive impact. We’re sharing some recent initiatives that were driven by individuals around the world.

Adopting and Sponsoring a Female Leopard

Kiran Sinha, Recruiting Scheduling Manager, has unfettered love for animals. She works very closely to help a non-profit organization, Wildlife SOS, which works towards the research, conservation, and welfare of wildlife resources. Recently, she started sponsoring the aid of a female rescued leopard named ‘Natalie’. Apart from this, she has also been raising money for food, medical aid, and PPE kits for animal care workers. “A lot of Gartner associates came in support of my cause and I am thankful to them,” Kiran comments. During the global pandemic outbreak, she actively supported the community through the distribution of food and resources (Face masks, blankets, books, and stationery) for underprivileged children.

Pass-it-on Scholarship

Hannah Bracale, Business Development Executive, was raised in a single-parent household and struggled to find financial support for college. Fortunately, she was able to receive enough financial assistance to afford her education. Since then, she’s been mentoring as an alumnus and helping students, but the philosophy of dharma and the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic inspired her to do more. She has now created what she calls a “Pass-It-On Fund” to assist undergraduate English majors with financial needs. Learn her complete story here.

Award-winning help with internships and training

Hannah Reid, Senior Human Resources Director, partnered with St Mary’s University on the Be Smart Program run by the careers group. The program is aimed at BAME (Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic) students in a bid to address the disproportionate number of BAME students who drop out of university and struggle to gain employment versus their white counterparts in the UK. Consulting, HR, and Finance took on interns, offered mentorship, and delivered a series of webinars on how to get ahead in the recruitment process (CV writing, interview techniques, LinkedIn and brand management, commercial awareness to name a few). Other than great feedback from participants, Gartner was honored with an ‘Outstanding Employer Contribution’ award. “I am passionate about diversity and inclusion and believe everyone can be part of the solution to the challenges under-represented groups face in society,” says Hannah. Honoring Breonna Taylor

Arlington associate Emily J. Morford, Director, Internal Audit, joined with members of her community to demonstrate their solidarity and support for racial justice and equality. To honor Breonna Taylor, an African-American emergency medical technician who was fatally shot, the group raised money for three scholarships. The Breonna Taylor Matters scholarships were recently awarded to three young black women going into the field of public service. Following this year’s scholarship award, Emily’s Northern Virginia community started a diversity and inclusion community group and is working on establishing a non-profit to continue to raise money for the Breonna Taylor Matters Scholarship. Emily has been organizing bi-weekly minority-owned food truck events to encourage dialogue, learn about different cultures, and earn money for the 2021 scholarship.
