Gartner’s Global Community Engagement program empowers associates to volunteer their time in local communities and contribute to any charitable cause of their choice. Our associates have continued to give back to the community they live in, in various ways. Let’s look at two great community impact stories that have emerged from two Gartner teams, recently.
Virtual Marathon Fundraiser & Interview Coaching
The Digital Markets Recruiting team held a fundraiser benefiting Dress for Success (USA) and Chiringuito de Dios (Spain). The goal was to raise $1,000 for these charities in one week by each team member walking 2.18 miles, collectively walking one marathon (26.2m/1.61km). The team’s original goal was exceeded and they ended up raising $1,065 for the two charities.
In addition to the fundraising efforts, they also hosted the first online educational webinar for Dress for Success members about Behavioral Interviewing. Our associates taught participants about what Behavioral Interviewing is, why it’s used, and how to respond with STAR answers to tell their story. Additionally, we invited participants to sign up for one on one meetings with our recruiters afterward to practice their interview skills and have a private space to ask interview-related questions.
Book Giveaway for Children in Stamford
Gartner associates recently volunteered with Stamford Public Education Foundation or SPEF, to package and distribute books to kids in kindergarten through eighth grade who stopped by one of the local distribution sites for Grab-and-Go Meals as part of the COVID-19 Helping Hands Initiatives. In just a few short hours, the group distributed a total of 211 books.
“It’s amazing to see local organizations come together to help members of their community in need,” noted Amy Belanger, Senior Manager at Gartner.
SPEF’s Books Across Stamford, an engaging literacy program, focuses on motivating children to read by distributing free books and literacy resources to children and families. SPEF partners with Reading is FUNdamental and The Scholastic Possible Fund, along with Stamford’s Ferguson Library, to distribute approximately 5,000 brand new books every year to children through book give-a-ways and donations to community centers throughout the city.
“Stepping away from my computer for the day reminded me of how even a few hours of volunteering can make an impact on those in need. I hope to look for other activities we can get involved in over the next few months,” said Elizabeth Galvin, Senior Director at Gartner
