Together Alone: Gartner Associates Stay Connected While Working Remotely

As we’re all shifting to a new way of working, teams here at Gartner have found new ways to stay connected to each other, as well as partners across the business. Being a global organization, it is sometimes difficult to “stay connected” when our associates all come from such different parts of the world.

Over the past several weeks, we’ve definitely seen more children, parents, dogs, living rooms, home offices,  and associates kitchens. Consistently, Gartner teams have risen up to support each other as colleagues, especially as we learn more about each other’s lives outside of the traditional work setting.

Transitioning to remote work has been humbling – but it’s given us the opportunity to learn more about our colleagues in the last few weeks then we typically do. As our associates have had to balance different priorities and stressors, Gartner has continued to support its people globally throughout the COVID-19 outbreak.

Below are a few ways Gartner is supporting our associates around the world:

  • Some teams are choosing to stay connected via virtual happy hours, coffee chats, along with more regular “check-ins” to make sure everyone feels supported.
  • Embracing flexible work – as many of our associates have families or competing obligations, managers and leaders across the business are offering grace and flexibility to team members who are also caring for children, relatives, or pets during this time.
  • Communication – even though we’re facing global uncertainty, our teams and broader organization have offered even more open communication to ensure that everyone remains connected and aware of our priorities and objectives.

Being such a global and diverse organization we are digging deeper and working harder in unison, seeking to create something meaningful out of all this uncertainty.  Even though many associates around the world are quarantined, isolated, and separated from each other, many of us feel more “together” than before.

At Gartner, we recognize that our associates are at their personal and professional best when they are happy and healthy. Learn more about life at Gartner here.
