Why Sian O’Hanlon Chose Sales At Gartner

Are you interested in pursuing a career in sales? Gartner’s world-class organization is growing at a rapid pace and looking to hire top talent to fuel the future of our business. Sian O’Hanlon, Sales Manager, is sharing why she enjoys working on Gartner’s Large Enterprise sales team in the UK.

I started my journey in Gartner Sales seven years ago, joining as a Senior Account Executive based in northern England. Having come from a tech sector background, I had long admired the Gartner brand and was very excited to join a company I had held in such high regard for many years. I hoped that my passion about the chance to join Gartner would come across during the hiring process, and to this day, I look for that same passion in the candidates I interview.

The Gartner culture is everything that I had hoped it would be. For me, the culture can be summarized in three words: people, learning and success. The beating heart of Gartner is its people; we don’t sell technology, we sell insight and content that’s created by people. Working and collaborating with our expert community and service delivery teams means that I have the opportunity to learn something new every day. If you’re intellectually curious, then the rich learning aspect of our culture should absolutely appeal to you.

With the right application, this all leads to success — we are a high-growth company with a high-achieving mindset, and it’s exciting to be part of that every single day. Sales has a Winners Circle every year, which is the benchmark of sales success at Gartner — it’s where our hard work during the year is recognized, rewarded and celebrated.

As a sales professional, if you have the right mindset, your career can really thrive and flourish at Gartner. My manager believed in me and gave me a platform to grow and develop; I’ve been promoted twice in my tenure. I’m now proud and privileged to lead a team of sales professionals in our Large Enterprise (LE) business. We work with CIOs and their teams to consistently drive and deliver business value. Our aim is to delight our clients — collaborating across the business to retain and grow our territory is what we do — and we have fun, too, in the process.
