Charlize Wang’s Tips For Sales Success

In celebration of Women’s History Month, we are highlighting the successes of our associates from across the world. Below, Charlize Wang, a Senior Sales Manager working in our Beijing office, shares her unique story and offers up career advice for others looking to grow with Gartner.

Charlize’s Career Story

I started my career at Gartner over six years ago as an Account Executive. When I joined Gartner, I was looking for a rewarding career, collaborative team and fast-growing company. Gartner had all of these opportunities and more. Within two years of joining the team, I was promoted to Senior Account Executive after making it to Winners Circle, a rewards program for top sales earners, twice. I was then given the opportunity to lead a team of six people after being promoted to Senior Sales Manager. During this time, my team experienced tremendous growth – doubling in size and promoting several associates to the manager level. The collaborative culture of our office allows for us to learn from each other while we work, setting the stage for continuous growth and development in the future.

Charlize’s Career Advice

Prioritize and Improve on Efficiency: Identify what’s most important in life. This list will differ for everyone, so make sure it truly reflects your priorities, not someone else’s. Work smarter and harder in a short amount of time – give yourself a goal to finish tasks within certain time and avoid procrastination.

Limit Time-Wasting Activities and People: Draw firm boundaries so you can devote quality time to high-priority people and activities. From there, it will be easier to determine what needs to be trimmed from your schedule in order to achieve success.

Delegation Is Key:  As a leader, you should not only measure your own success, but also work to teach and lead others to greatness. Find out what tasks you can assign to other people so that they can learn, develop and grow professionally. This will give them a chance to learn something new and free up your schedule to set and achieve new goals.
