Are you interested in joining the Gartner team in our sunny Fort Myers office? Below, Megan Thakkar, a graduate of Florida Gulf Coast University, answers a few questions about what life at Gartner is like as a Client Relationship Manager.
Describe your job in 25 words or less: I lead a team of eight exceptional individuals who deliver value daily to our GTP clients.
What originally attracted you to Gartner? There were two things that originally attracted me to Gartner — the collaborative, team environment and the opportunity for growth, both personally and professionally.
What is your favorite part about working for Gartner? The people! Gartner does a great job of hiring driven, talented, like-minded individuals who are all striving for success. It is nice to work alongside so many people that are rooting for you as much as you are rooting for them.
How has Gartner helped you in your career development? My peers, managers and higher leadership have pushed me from day one to be the best version of myself. They helped me discover what I am truly passionate about and ensured that I stayed on top of my development. Before coming to Gartner I worked for non-profit agencies where there was little opportunity for upward mobility, and within three years at Gartner, I am proud to say I have been promoted twice.
What advice do you have for prospective Gartner candidates? Be curious and excited but most importantly, be yourself!
What advice would you give to recent new hires? There is so much to learn at Gartner, and no one expects you to know it all in your first day, week or month. Feel comfortable asking questions no matter how silly they may seem and always put your clients first!
What are 3 words that best describe you? Thoughtful, driven, organized.
What is one thing unique about you that people would be surprised if they knew? My husband and I are high school sweethearts and have been together since we were 16.
If you could switch your job with anyone else within Gartner whose job would you want and why? It would be great to spend a couple days in every role within Gartner. The perspective I could gain on what our colleagues do would be invaluable!
Favorite Quote or Personal Mantra: Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says, I will try again tomorrow. – May Anne Radmacher
