Describe your team in 25 words or less: We identify, pilot and lead innovative approaches to deliver client retention and growth support to our largest strategic accounts.

What originally attracted you to Gartner? Technology will be the “thing” that defines business and broader society in my lifetime — and I wanted to be at the hub of thinking around this.

What was your first role at Gartner? Technically the one I have right now, but now with three times more responsibility!

How long have you worked at Gartner? Three years.

What makes Gartner a great place to work? We have a high-performance culture — which creates an environment where everyone wants to better themselves and the business. We also have a culture where you genuinely like your colleagues and always make time for a coffee or to eat lunch together.

When interviewing a candidate, what are 3 things you look for: Capacity and willingness to learn; has failed, reflected and “got back in the ring”; positive and engaging personality

Describe your management style: I like to give autonomy and responsibility in equal measures. My team runs Programs, and I tell them to “act like an owner” — to think of their Programs as their own businesses, with customers (the account teams we interact with), shareholders (the people who sponsor us) and of course a P&L (the impact we have on the business). So autonomy to make decisions and take responsibility for their results.

What role does your team play in Gartner’s success? In the words of our CEO: “This team helps Gartner out-innovate our competition when it comes to our retention best practices — no one can keep up with us!”

What are 3 of the most important responsibilities/tasks of your team? Supporting accounts to get the best retention and growth; driving best practices related to retention and growth across our business; continuously improving those best practices

Why would a prospective candidate want to join your team? We support our largest strategic accounts to renew and grow. Each member of my team supports more large accounts than many employees come across in their careers, using a rare combination of influencing, communication, problem solving and analytical skills. We deliver sizeable financial benefits to the business, and our insights (gained from thousands of supported renewals) are sought by senior leaders across Gartner.
