Kaley Hopkins, Manager, Recruiting Programs, began her Gartner career in 2011 when she took a leap of faith and moved from New York to Florida for a sales internship. Read more about Kaley’s growing with Gartner experience below.
The sales internship provided Kaley with the sales experience necessary to move into a full time sales role. “In 2012, I accepted a position as an Account Manager for MSE and spent a little over two years working on the High Tech side of the business,” Kaley explains. “I was then approached in 2015 about an opportunity to work in Sales Operations, where we started leading the MSE Internship Program under Kimberly Ocana.”
Kaley accepted the new position and became an integral part of the growing sales internship team.
Using what you know
Having been an previous sales intern, Kaley was uniquely able to lead and evaluate the success of the program. “I’ve been able to put myself in the interns’ shoes and make sure they have a great experience while here at Gartner, which is critical because our goal is to convert the great talent that comes through the program.”
By 2016, the MSE Internship Program had grown beyond expectations and Kaley found herself in an extraordinary position. “Because of where the Internship Program was headed, my role was transitioned over to HR so we could align with overall campus recruiting strategy.”
Leaving Sales and moving to HR was another big move for Kaley. “Initially I was a bit unsure if that was the direction I wanted to go,” she shares. “But I realized it was the right decision for Gartner’s overall campus recruiting strategy. We had an amazing opportunity to grow the scope and size of Gartner’s internship programs and personally saw it as a way to gain experience in a different business unit and to challenge myself.”
Kaley credits her success and career growth to her no limits mindset and ability to embrace change. “I’ve been pushed to go out of my comfort zone and that ultimately helps me progress in my career and build new professional skills.”
Kaley’s tips for success

She brings a wealth of Campus Recruiting experience and has grown our team significantly over the past few years. Tamara and I frequently talked about career pathing and future opportunities,” she explains. “So having open dialogue around your career with your manager is important.”
