At Gartner our team is intrinsically motivated by a shared set of values. We are committed to creating an inclusive workplace culture by supporting veterans, women, members of the LGBTQ community and multi-cultural groups across our different business units and global offices. Mike Parks, a part of Gartner’s Global Events One-one-One team and Arlington Office Lead of our Mosaic group, shares about a recent event held to celebrate diversity at Gartner.
Recently, Gartner’s Mosaic Employee Resource Group (ERG) hosted a World Cup viewing party for the semifinal match between Croatia and England. It provided a fun opportunity for associates to socialize, enjoy snacks from Chipotle and participate in a celebration of international recreation. In addition to food and drinks, we hosted a raffle at halftime and at the end of the game, and awarded a prize to those who correctly guessed the final score.
Unfortunately, despite holding a lead for the majority of the game, England was eventually defeated when the Croatians forced overtime and then gained the lead to advance to the finals. It would have been nice for our new fellow associates from England to have been able to see their team win, but at the end of the day we were all happy to share the experience and learn about Gartner’s employee resource groups like Mosaic.
Being a member of the Mosaic ERG means that I have the opportunity to meet and connect with colleagues across our global offices. While social events like the World Cup viewing party are important, I am grateful that Gartner encourages participation in the ERGs and provides us direction and guidance to help make an impact on our culture.
