IMG_0475In 2016, we first introduced you to Anna Thomas, then a Senior Account Executive working in Sales. A graduate of Australian Catholic University and Griffith University, Anna first began her career with Gartner over 13 years ago. Currently working in our Amsterdam office, we check back in to see how Anna’s career has grown as she gives us a quick update on her life at Gartner.

Starting her Gartner career in 1999 as an Events Coordinator, Anna joined the team in Brisbane, Australia, while still attending university to earn her degree. After working on this team for three years, she left Gartner to work for a new organization but soon returned in 2005. It was then that she joined the Events team in Sydney as an Events Manager.

In 2008, Anna entered into a new type of role at Gartner, moving into Research Sales as a Client Partner. It was during this time that Anna became a Sales Associate, AE and eventually moved up into a Senior Account Executive role. After enjoying her time in sunny Australia, Anna was given the opportunity to move to the UK to join Gartner’s Strategic Accounts organization. “During this move from Sydney to the UK, I was able to continue growing and learning from an amazing bunch of new colleagues,” says Anna.

Two years later, Anna would once again move to another Gartner office, this time joining as a Competitive Specialist on our Operations & Strategies team in the Netherlands. Of her career growth at Gartner, Anna says, “I have been extremely fortunate to work in three different countries and in seven different roles over the course of my 13 years with Gartner — what an adventure it’s been!”

IMG_0201Currently, Anna is still working as a Competitive Specialist on the Operations & Strategies team, which gives her the opportunity to work with a large group of people at a global level. “Each of my colleagues has such a rich and varied Gartner background; these people really know their stuff, which enables me to keep learning and experiencing new situations which I can apply to my role every day,” says Anna.

When asked about one of her favorite Gartner experiences, joining the Sales team was definitely a perk. Why, you ask? “Because of the Winners Circle and Club 300 — these celebrations are where your hard work is really rewarded. Being able to share that reward with a partner, parent or friend is such a wonderful feeling and keeps me coming back for more every year,” she says.
