What was your first role at Gartner? I was hired as a test lead, and my role was to improve existing quality assurance processes, hire a new team of automation engineers, and automate both web and mobile-based applications by leveraging my technical expertise and know-how.
How long have you worked at Gartner? Almost 2 years. I started as a test l and currently, I am Manager, Test Engineering.

Describe your best employee: There are multiple qualities that help employees stand out in the team, but if they have following three qualities it will make a huge difference:
- Technical exposure — We look for candidates having technical expertise or can adapt to the latest technologies that could help us in both process and product automation.
- Be consistent and dependable — Consistently perform at a high level and follow through on commitments, which is vital for a growing team with a large number of active projects.
- Out-of-box thinker — They usually ask a lot of questions and at the end of brainstorming sessions, we get a lot of ideas and approaches to handle a complex problem.
Share a success story about your team: Our team was the first QA team at Gartner India and we collaborated with multiple team members in different geographical locations to gain core knowledge. Within a short span of time, we built a behavior-driven development test automation framework from scratch with 80% test automation coverage of multiple applications integrated with a continuous integration tool. I believe the passion and the drive toward growth led to this team’s success.
Describe your management style: I would like to understand each individual’s strengths and what they do well. I will offer guidance as needed to help my team unleash their potential. I am very hands-on with my mentorship style so that my team knows they are not alone and I am there to support them. Of course, we don’t forget to have fun along the way. I always believe in leading the team by working along with the team.
What advice do you have for members of your team, or someone considering joining your team? Always be eager to learn. I value employees who continually show their thirst for knowledge by taking the time to learn new skills. In the long run that will benefit both the employee and the company.
Why would a prospective candidate want to join your team? My team members are all very passionate and enthusiastic. You will see that there is a common thread of winning attitude, strong mindset and collaboration running through every individual making up the team.
