Job Title: Account Manager
Office Location: Egham, U.K.
Describe your job in 25 words or less: My job is to ensure that my clients are seeing the value that Gartner can add and are taken care of. I like to be close to them and build a direct relationship in order to understand their business as much as I can.
What is your favorite part about working for Gartner? I like the fact that you are quite independent here. It’s up to you to decide how your day runs, and prioritization is key! Having strong organizational skills will definitely help you be successful.
How has Gartner helped you in your career development? I had been attracted to sales before and had some exposure to it, but I didn’t have the experience in the IT field. Working at Gartner has given me the opportunity to speak to C-level clients. This has definitely helped me in learning how to tackle strategic business objectives that I hadn’t dealt with before.
What advice do you have for prospective Gartner candidates? Be driven, competitive and resilient. Do your homework, learn about how Gartner helps its clients. Reach out to anyone currently at Gartner and ask them what their experience has been to get more of an insight into the business.
What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most? I like speaking to C-level clients. The reason I like this is that it challenges me to use my professional communication skills that I have learned at Gartner in a practical setting.
What advice would you give to recent new hires? Utilize those around you. Everyone is here to be successful and everyone is open to working collaboratively to achieve success. Learn as quickly as possible from your peers. Don’t be afraid to just go for it!
If you could interview one person (dead or alive) who would it be and why? Nelson Mandela. I would like to discover more about his drive and how he maintained that through such tough times and still managed to be such an influential person.
If you were to write a book about yourself, what would you name it? Mind your head. Just because I always seem to be hitting mine on things…
What are 3 words that best describe you? Organized, friendly and ambitious.
Favorite Quote or Personal Mantra: If the plan doesn’t work, change the plan, not the goal.
