University: Fairleigh Dickinson University

Job Title: Account Executive

Office Location: Houston, TX

Describe your job in 25 words or less: I work with Fortune 50 oil and gas companies to provide strategic support on IT priorities.

What is your favorite part about working for Gartner? The growth that’s experienced personally and professionally. I came to Gartner with no corporate or sales experience. After 18 months I was promoted into management. Three years later I’ve moved to Houston and have the opportunity to work with oil and gas companies. Gartner has created a culture of collaboration and improvement. From day 1 I’ve been coached and developed to improve a little each day. This mindset is contagious and has helped me to develop into a better sales professional, husband, dad, etc.

If you have been at Gartner for over 5 years, what has made you stay at Gartner so long? I love this company! So long as Gartner continues to invest in my development I’ll stay. In each role I was in, I’ve had leaders dedicated to developing their people.

205347_1005181643651_4527_nWhat are 3 words that best describe Gartner? Collaborative, Invested, Excellence.

What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most? Building relationships and working strategically with clients to help them be successful in their roles.

What advice would you give to transitioning military members? It’s scary making the jump from the comfort of a uniform into corporate sales, but if you’re looking to work in an environment with a group of like- minded people working collaboratively toward a common goal, then give Gartner a shot!

If you could interview one person (dead or alive) who would it be and why? Albert Einstein — He was a substitute teacher at my high school and there were pictures of him on the walls in the classrooms he taught in. I’d love to interview him to get his perspective on the state of science and people.

If you were to write a book about yourself, what would you name it? 1 Step Forward — No Steps Back

What is one thing unique about you that people would be surprised if they knew? When I went to college right out of high school, I was a ceramics major.

Favorite Quote or Personal Mantra: “Whether you think you can or whether you think you can’t, you’re right.”
