Get To Know Gartner: Meet Rosi Young

Rosi YoungName: Rosi Young

University: Cardiff University

Job Title: Account Executive

Office Location: Egham, U.K.

Describe your job in 25 words or less: My role consists of supporting higher education CIOs and senior IT leaders to transform IT into a business enabler within their institutions.

What originally attracted you to Gartner? I was originally attracted to Gartner by the progression and opportunities that are available for me within the business. When I came and interviewed at Gartner, I loved the meritocratic nature of the business and the fact that you are rewarded for your success. If you keep looking to develop yourself, stay open to new opportunities and work hard, who knows what doors will open for you?

What is your favorite part about working for Gartner? My favorite part about working for Gartner has to be the fact that we offer such a valuable and unique service to our clients. This service can really make a huge difference in businesses and institutions. The knowledge that I am selling something of such high value is a real positive of working here.

What has been your proudest moment at Gartner? Achieving my second Winners Circle this year was a great highlight!

What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most? That would have to be the opportunity that I get to essentially run my own mini-business. As an Account Executive, I work closely with my clients and manage their experience with Gartner, so it means that I can work independently with them, but at the same time, I always have the support of my peers when I need it.

What advice would you give to recent new hires? Constantly be open to learning from your peers. The people that are around you are your best asset in mastering the best practices early on.

If you could interview one person (dead or alive) who would it be and why? I can’t pick just one, so I will have to pick two. For me it would be Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. Not only are they hilarious, but they are perfect examples of women who have managed to balance personal and professional lives, while succeeding in a very male-dominated industry. Plus, I also think they could recommend a few good cocktail spots!

What are 3 words that best describe you? Conscientious, ambitious and determined.

Favorite Quote or Personal Mantra: “What would I do if I weren’t afraid? And then go do it.” — Sheryl Sandberg
