Describe your team in 25 words or less: A team of close-knit, highly dynamic and fun-loving sales professionals who constantly strive toward excellence in delivering value to our clients.
Why did you choose Gartner? I chose Gartner for two reasons. 1) I was attracted by the growth potential of Gartner, and for me, that meant opportunities for career progression. 2) It also offered me an opportunity to do something different, which is delivering value to clients through research and advisory services. My previous roles were in telco sales and logistic sales.
What was your first role at Gartner? My first role at Gartner was Account Executive looking after our commercial clients in Singapore. I then moved into a public sector role a few years later and was promoted to Senior Account Executive.
How long have you worked at Gartner? I will celebrate my 7-year anniversary at Gartner in April 2018.
What makes Gartner a great place to work? For me, three things make Gartner a great place to work — 1) Career Opportunities – Gartner is growing. With 30 consecutive growth quarters, there are many opportunities within the organization. I am excited to be a part of this growth. 2) Professional Development – Gartner has an established sales professional development program and I have benefited from it to become better at what I do. 3) People — I am constantly working with colleagues who are brilliant, smart and at the same time, know how to have fun. It is our people who make the workplace great!
When interviewing a candidate, what are 3 things you look for? Confidence, having a growth mindset and determination are areas I look out for.
Describe your management style: My role is to be a coach and help my team members excel at what they do. I will offer guidance as needed to help my team unleash their potential. I will lead by example first, show how it is done and let my team adapt to their own style.
What role does your team play in Gartner’s success? My team has leadership over the Government and GLC sectors. We are part of a larger team that includes the commercial and regional account teams. The Government and GLC sectors are an integral part of our business and success in this region.
What advice do you have for members of your team, or someone considering joining your team? Know your sense of purpose — what drives you to do what you do every single day? If you are clear about your sense of purpose, it will propel you to do great things and achieve great results.
