Describe your team in 25 words or less: The Gartner Malaysia team is made up of very talented people who are extremely collaborative, have an amazing sense of culture and support each other. This team is focused on driving value to our clients and expanding our reach in Malaysia.
What was your first role at Gartner? My first role at Gartner was a SMB Account Executive, where I made some of the greatest friends, expanded my professional network, and grew personally and professionally.
How long have you worked at Gartner? 9 years
What makes Gartner a great place to work? Growth. I’ve grown within Gartner over the past 9 years in several different roles in the USA, and now leading Gartner Malaysia — an exciting place to be working for a market leader. We have limitless possibilities with our recent acquisition of CEB, serving our clients across all major functions of their enterprise.
Share a fun fact about yourself: I’m 1 of 8 siblings, 6 of who (including me) are adopted from different parts of the globe. I was adopted from Sri Lanka, and we all grew up together in Germany.
When interviewing a candidate, what are 3 things you look for? Demonstrated sales process and success, a will to win and a growth mindset.
Describe your management style: When I was leading a team in Boston, we coined the term “tag-team approach.” That’s my management style — we are in this together to win. The reason I went into leadership is to see others grow, just as I have over the years. Whether it’s coaching and developing or simply rolling up my sleeves and leading from the front, I’m here to see others succeed.
What role does your team play in Gartner’s success? According to Gartner’s latest forecast, spending on technology products and services in Malaysia is expected to reach more than RM71.7 billion (US$16.76 billion), an increase of 8% from last year, and grow to almost RM82.7 billion (US$19.33 billion) in 2020. The Gartner Malaysia team looks forward to impacting that by driving great retention and growing our business by helping our clients make the right decisions.
What are 3 of the most important responsibilities/tasks of your team? First, knowing the right things to do and ensuring we do those flawles Second, driving value and strong relationships with our clients. Third, driving high activity in growing our business through our unique value proposition in the market.
