Describe your team in 25 words or less: My team consists of 5 high-performing BDs covering Europe and Africa. We are the most tenured team on the floor, and the most successful, too. Between 3 of us alone we have 17 Winners Circles, and Pete has been the global top achiever twice.

Why did you choose Gartner? I joined Gartner in March 2011. I joined because I believed in Gartner’s VP having been on the client side.

What was your first role at Gartner? My first role was Account Manager. I was in that role for two and a half years.

How long have you worked at Gartner? I have been with Gartner for 6.5 years.

What makes Gartner a great place to work? The people who work here make it a great place to work. Access to C-level clients also provides great opportunity when working at Gartner. One of my personal reasons for loving Gartner is being in a workplace where I am always inspired.

Describe your best employee. What unique qualities does he/she possess that makes them stand out? Pete Stedman is my top performer. He’s disciplined and honest (with himself as much as with clients). He’s very driven, too.

When interviewing a candidate, what are 3 things you look for? The No. 1 thing I look for is someone’s sales instinct, their ability to know where an opportunity arises and act on it. I also look for someone who learns quickly and can be coached. Drive is also very important.

Share a success story about your team: There are many success stories in my team, but the one that stands out is the fact that 11 people have been promoted in my team since 2014. I see this as a great achievement, and believe there are more potential promotions to

Describe your management style: I would describe myself as someone who leads by example. I am very collaborative with my greater team (SMB & other internal stakeholders). I heavily invest in the on-boarding, development and continued success of my team.

What role does your team play in Gartner’s success? We are the end-user growth engine — what I mean by this is that our business and its success leads the way for future positions/roles within the AE function.

What are 3 of the most important responsibilities/tasks of your team? The team has to generate sustainable business through not only adhering to best practices, but also by partnering with other lines of business and ensuring superior market cultivation.

What advice do you have for someone considering joining your team? My advice would be to be very open-minded and be a sponge! There is so much to learn here. Become a great storyteller and learn how to ask great questions.

We operate in a growing market so there is high opportunity, both in earning potential and career progression. We work very hard and are committed to produce results, but we always make sure we have fun doing it.
