Job Title: Account Executive
University: University of Maryland
Office Location: Fort Myers, Florida
Describe your job in 25 words or less: I quarterback the appropriate resources for my clients to best support their journey in leveraging IT most effectively within their organization.
What originally attracted you to Gartner? The opportunity for growth and sales development.
Who has been a mentor for you here at Gartner? How have they helped you? I can’t say enough about my mentor, Sierra Allen. She accelerated my Gartner learning curve and helped integrate me into the fabric of our team. My experience would not have been the same without my mentor, and we remain close friends to this day.
How has Gartner helped you in your career development? This has given me a platform to launch my sales career. I had limited sales experience prior to this job and I’ve learned so many best practices in how to be a more effective sales rep.
Did you move to Fort Myers for this job? If yes, what was the hardest part and what was the easiest part? Yes, I moved from Washington D.C. The hardest part was leaving my former life and starting a new journey, in a new land, completely on my own. However, considering so many sales reps come to Gartner in the same manner as I, it was very easy to make friends and bond with my new colleagues.
What advice do you have for prospective Gartner candidates? Be yourself. Gartner isn’t for everyone. But if you have the natural traits, this can be an unbelievable opportunity for development. Trust yourself and what you can offer to this organization.
What makes your team the best one to join? We have a clear vision of what we’re striving for and we truly embody the principle of “work hard, play hard.” We collaborate with each other, celebrate with one another and genuinely have everyone’s best intentions in mind. We have a lot of fun working with each other.
What has been your proudest moment at Gartner? Being nominated for a “behavior award” for my Q3 performance last fall. I didn’t know I was being nominated until after the quarter had passed, but my VP shared with me a heartfelt message that my manager had written about my performance. It showed me that all of my hard work and dedication was not overlooked, even though I didn’t have sales numbers as high as my colleagues.
If you could interview one person (dead or alive) who would it be and why? Michael Jordan, because he is one of the most competitive people to ever live. I’d love to know his drivers and what made everything so important to win.
What are 3 words that best describe you? Enthusiasm, positivity, driven.
What is one thing unique about you that people would be surprised if they knew? I played college football (defensive back) and my dad won a Super Bowl with the Washington Redskins.
Favorite Quote or Personal Mantra: “Excellence comes from a relentless will to succeed.”
