Who has been a mentor for you here at Gartner? How have they helped you? My manager, Tim Hall, has been my go-to person here at Gartner. Being in my position in the past, and understanding what it takes to win, he knows how to push me in the right direction to succeed. His coaching and constant involvement in my everyday process has truly helped take my career to a new level.
How has Gartner helped you in your career development? Working at Gartner for the past eight months has shown me a lot about myself and what I am capable of doing. It has allowed me to push myself to limits where no other job has, and it has challenged me to be a better salesman.
What are 3 words that best describe Gartner? Fun, rewarding, growth
What has been your proudest moment at Gartner? My proudest moment at Gartner has to be when my Account Executives went out their way to tell my manager how much of an asset I am to the team. This in turn made it easier for me to navigate through my territory, because they understood what I brought to the table.
What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most? I enjoy being an asset to my team, whether it is my immediate team or those that I support in my territory. Helping others has always been a joy of mine, and my job allows me not only to help and support, but to provide a valuable service.
What advice would you give to recent new hires? I would tell new hires, take your time and understand that you are working for a great organization with tremendous opportunities for growth and advancement. But with that comes the responsibility of knowing what you are being asked to do and to execute on that at a high level. So learn as much as you can about Gartner and the organizations we support. Do that, and your experience will be one to remember.
If you could interview one person (dead or alive) who would it be and why? I would interview Langston Hughes simply because he was one of the greatest, if not the greatest, poet ever. As a fellow poet I would love to understand what inspired him and what kept him motivated all of those years.
If you were to write a book about yourself, what would you name it? The Window to My Soul
