Job Title: Associate Director, Global Recruiting, New Market Programs and Corporate Development
University: Southern Connecticut State University
Office Location: Stamford, CT
Why did you choose Gartner? I chose Gartner based on the quality of its products and services, and the quality of the people I met during the interview process — smart, warm, professional!
What was your first role at Gartner? I joined Gartner as a Senior Recruiter supporting the Executive Programs Business — ExP supports Gartner’s CIO-level clients. It’s a very smart and dedicated group of people to work with — this was a great job. I’ve recently moved into a new role supporting Gartner’s New Market Programs business, which includes Digital Markets.
How long have you worked at Gartner? I have worked at Gartner for over 7.5 years.
What makes Gartner a great place to work? The 2 things that I find most exciting about working at Gartner are that I have learned more here than I have in any other job —the opportunity to be challenged is tremendous, and the truly global nature of our work environment. I speak to my team, peers and clients in other parts of the world on a daily basis. I love this exposure.
Describe your best employee. What unique qualities does he/she possess that makes them stand out? The person I am thinking of takes challenges and turns them into opportunities to learn and improve on what we do. It’s very exciting to watch, and I have learned a thing or two from their approach!
When interviewing a candidate, what are 3 things you look for? Sense of ownership, sense of urgency and a passion for what they do.
Share a success story about your team: We recently came together in our Stamford office for a 3-day team meeting. The face-to-face time was incredibly valuable. One of the most fun and exciting sessions that we did was building our “pitch,” coming up with the top reasons to work for Gartner Digital Markets. Everyone was engaged and actively participating, people were standing at the whiteboard and calling out ideas — good and bad. It was very collaborative, fun and productive.
Describe your management style: I enjoy tackling challenges as a team, sharing information and motivating everyone to participate actively in the conversation and solutions. I like to give the team the room they need to do their jobs, but make myself 100% available to help them as needed. We have a lot of work to do in 2017, so motivation is key!
What role does your team play in Gartner’s success? My team is key to helping grow the Gartner Digital Markets business. The growth opportunity for this business is tremendous and our team will be there to support it.
Why would a prospective candidate want to join your team? We are working on one of the fastest-growing teams at Gartner, we are highly respected for our expertise and we have a seat at the table.
If you could describe your team dynamic in one word, what would it be? ENGAGED!
Favorite Quote or Personal Mantra: Self-reliance conquers any difficulty.
