Describe your team in 25 words or less: My team is a group of savvy and super-awesome marketing associates. They are responsible for content promotion and increasing traffic to the Capterra blogs.
Why did you choose Capterra, a Gartner company? I chose Capterra because I was looking for a role that would challenge me, provide manager experience, and give me opportunities to continue to learn more about digital marketing and the software industry.
How long have you worked in this role? I’ve worked at Capterra for about a year and a half.
What makes Gartner a great place to work? The people! Everyone I’ve encountered throughout my time here has been great to work with. The work ethic, kindness and the constant need to improve is contagious.
Describe yourself in 3 words: Organized, personable, adventurous.
Share a fun fact about yourself: I remember things best by their color and like to color-code EVERYTHING (my team will attest to this). And I don’t own a single pair of plain, white socks.
When interviewing a candidate, what are 3 things you look for? Self-motivation and drive, personality and passion for marketing, an eagerness to learn and challenge the norm, and growth mindset.
Describe your management style: My management style is that of a motivator/coach. I strive to give my team the tools they need to be successful, be a supportive resource for them to ask questions and bounce ideas off of, and use data to make strategic decisions while challenging them to bring new ideas to the table.
What advice do you have for members of your team, or someone considering joining your team? Speak up and don’t be afraid to ask questions! Because the software industry is so huge we are constantly trying to stay on top of trends and keep up with the rapid pace. By asking “why,” doing research, and pushing new initiatives, we not only make ourselves better marketers but repeatedly discover questions our consumers may have themselves. In turn, we are able to provide resources to help those consumers with their software purchases.
Why would a prospective candidate want to join your team? Being a part of our team is much more than just a standard marketing position. We are constantly testing and researching new ways to get our content in front of the largest, most relevant audience possible. This team is full of growth-minded individuals who come to work ready to hit the ground running, every day. We are also a very dynamic team and encourage team members to take chances and run with projects they are interested in, as long as they relate to the overall goal — being ridiculously helpful to software buyers of the world! We have a lot of fun while we are at it and since we have an open office, it is easy to bounce ideas off each other, collaborate and keep each other on our toes.
If you could describe your team dynamic in one word, what would it be? AWESOME!
Favorite Quote or Personal Mantra: “Sometimes plan, sometimes wing it.” I’m a planner by nature so this reminds me to take a step back, be flexible and let things happen as they happen, especially when it comes to work!
