Describe your team in 25 words or less: A team of highly talented social media marketers who ensure that our brand is portrayed in the public domain the right way.

Why did you choose Gartner? I worked for several startup companies in different marketing positions before coming to Gartner. At the time I interviewed for Gartner I was looking for a long-term move to grow a career. I was about to get married and needed more financial stability than a startup could offer. What attracted me to Gartner was that while a large company, I was able to still have autonomy and offer opinions about the social media program we were trying to start.

How long have you worked at Gartner? I’ve worked at Gartner 5 years. I started out as a team of 1 in 2012, and currently manage a team of 4 full-time associates. It’s great to see how Gartner continues to invest in social media and how we’ve proven our value to the business.IMG_6813

Share a fun fact about yourself. I completed a Fulbright Scholarship in 2007-2008. I worked for the U.S. State Department conducting research on cross-border policy between Canada and the United States after 9/11. I lived in Windsor, Ontario, across the border from Detroit, Michigan, for one year interviewing medium and large business. It was just as cold as you imagine.

When interviewing a candidate, what are 3 things you look for?

What role does your team play in Gartner’s success? The social media team supports our Events, Corporate Marketing, Research and Recruiting teams. We are able to leverage the appropriate social networks and communications channels to positively impact each team’s goals and initiatives.

What are 3 main functions or job duties of your employees?

  • Driving people to Gartner events,
  • Making it easier for Gartner to recruit top talent,
  • Maintaining consistency in our messaging about the Gartner brand.

IMG_6098What advice do you have for members of your team, or someone considering joining your team? It’s a very exciting time to be at Gartner. We’ve hit double-digit growth for 24 consecutive quarters, and the company has doubled in size since I started in 2012. With this excitement comes a lot of change. The best thing you can do is embrace the change and grow with the company.

If you could describe your team dynamic in one word, what would it be? Collaborative. No matter what business unit we are supporting, as a team of 5 people we are often involved in projects and similar initiatives together. My team is always willing to jump in when a team member is on leave or needs assistance. The ability to remain collaborative helps us to succeed.
