Describe your team in 25 words or less: A team of highly talented individuals who are passionate about their role — to ensure that our clients maximize the value of their investments in Gartner.

Why did you choose Gartner? I joined Gartner through the META Group acquisition. When I was doing sales in META, I used to compete with Gartner all the time and therefore was really excited when offered the opportunity to join the market leader.

What was your first role at Gartner? My first role in Gartner was as Country Manager, Business Development for Malaysia, where I had the opportunity to lead the local sales team.

How long have you worked at Gartner? May 1, 2016 marked my 15th anniversary in Gartner — 15 very rewarding years!

What makes Gartner a great place to work? Exciting, enriching and rewarding.

Share a fun fact about yourself My first sales experience was in my early teens when I helped a friend’s family to sell Tupperware (which I did pretty well!).

Describe your best employee. What unique qualities does he/she possess that makes them stand out? My best employee is someone who is highly motivated, understands our focus and priorities, and executes on them to drive results. Someone who embraces the Gartner growth mindset and strives for continuous improvement in his/her role.

When interviewing a candidate, what are 3 things you look for:

  • Drive for success (competitiveness, no-limits mindset)
  • Intellect/clockspeed (intellectual capability and curiosity, learning agility)
  • Client service acumen (effective communication and collaboration, organizational skills and service excellence)

What role does your team play in Gartner’s success? Our focus on value delivery to drive individual client retention is fundamental for growth in our business. Our statistics have shown that high individual retention results drive accelerated sales results.

What advice do you have for members of your team, or someone considering joining your team? Embrace the growth mindset. Gartner is a growth company, and there is unlimited potential for professional and personal growth.
