caroline-chu-2Name: Caroline Chumakov

University: Purdue University

Job Title: Senior Research Content Specialist

Office Location: Fort Myers, FL

Describe your job in 25 words or less:

I am tasked with the correct alignment of our clients and prospects with our research analysts, and I am responsible for professionally developing my team.

What originally attracted you to Gartner? My original plan was to go to veterinary school after I graduated college, but I had a minor quarter-life crisis my senior year about what I wanted do for the rest of my life. My sister was a recruiter at Gartner and she mentioned that there was a position open that I might find interesting; it was the Research Content Specialist role. I did some research online and even spoke to a few Gartner employees who had been in the role. From the moment that I understood that I’d be learning research content and that I would have the chance to interact with our analysts, I was hooked.

What is your favorite part about working for Gartner? Gartner is a fast-growing company that provides ample opportunities for individuals to grow, develop and move up within the organization. If you work hard and put in the extra time and effort, you will be rewarded.

What are 3 words that best describe Gartner? Innovation, collaboration and growth.

What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most? I am incredibly curious by nature, so I enjoy learning new concepts and ideas. I love that my role involves learning new research content every day. I also work with and learn from a number of different business units within Gartner on a daily basis.

What advice would you give to recent new hires? Learn how to use the resources around you. It seems counterintuitive, but the way to excel in your role (whether it be in Sales, Research, HR, etc.) is to branch out and learn more about what other people do within the company. The better you understand how Gartner functions as a whole and what drives each business unit, the more successful you will be.

If you could interview one person (dead or alive) who would it be and why? Aristotle. He was a prolific writer on topics of philosophy and science, which are two of my favorite subjects to explore.

What are 3 words that best describe you? Curious, focused and creative.

What is one thing unique about you that people would be surprised if they knew? I’ve moved seven times in my life — six times within the United States and once overseas to the Netherlands. Because of my nomadic past, I love meeting new people and traveling to new places.

Favorite Quote or Personal Mantra: “Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning.” — Albert Einstein
