Job Title: APAC Events Attendance Specialist

Office Location: North Sydney, Australia

Describe your job in 25 words or less: Driving attendance to our Events portfolio by engaging IT leaders and their teams on a daily basis to effectively understand mission-critical priorities, interests and challenges.

What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most? The ability to manage the sales process from start to finish and into the future. When working with various clients you are initially discussing areas of focus and challenges, but to then meet them on-site at an event and hear the ways you have positively impacted the organization is highly rewarding.

What originally attracted you to Gartner? Gartner appealed to me due to its reputation as one of the go-to brands associated with making IT-related decisions. In my previous role I heard on numerous occasions executives quoting pieces of information they had heard from Gartner. This, coupled with Gartner’s increasing presence globally, meant it was a simple decision.

What advice would you give to recent new hires? Keep an open mind and soak everything up — Gartner is a fast-growing organization with a talented and highly successful team. I have learned so much from not only my peers but also from those outside of my direct team.

What are 3 words that best describe Gartner? Three words that best describe Gartner are exciting, rewarding and enjoyable.

What has been your proudest moment at Gartner? Overachieving my first-year plan and securing my spot at Winners Circle, Hanoi, Vietnam. Three days of back-to-back activities and reward for success!

If you could interview one person (dead or alive) who would it be and why? Conor McGregor (UFC World Champion). Conor has an ability to articulate and captivate an audience, making people want to listen to him. He has brought a sport to the mainstream and is the true definition of having a no-limits mindset.

What are 3 words that best describe you? Confident, relaxed, competitive.

What is one thing unique about you that people would be surprised if they knew? Everyone is always surprised to hear that I do not like chocolate, never have and potentially never will! This is especially shocking to my close friends who like nothing more than a piece of chocolate when hungry.

Favorite Quote or Personal Mantra: “There’s no talent here; this is hard work, this is an obsession. Talent does not exist, we are all equals as human beings. You could be anyone if you put in the time. You will reach the top, and that’s that. I am not talented, I am obsessed.” Or a simple quote that is very relevant to my current role: “If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door.”
