hd_bio_photoName: Holly D, Anger aka “Holly Danger”

University Name: SUNY Purchase

Business Unit: Multimedia — Marketing

Why do you like working at Gartner? I love working here as the Creative Director of Studio 56 because it enables me to collaborate with an incredibly devoted team of talented videographers, producers and artists. The projects we work on at the Studio always present new creative challenges and provide an opportunity to always be learning and practicing new trends and techniques in the production world. As a whole, I feel like everyone I’ve met and worked with is aiming to raise the bar in everything we do. This adds to a certain energy you feel when you come to work every day that amplifies our collective motivation to achieve the best work we can and push each other to reach our full potential.

What advice do you have for someone just starting out in your role? To someone just starting out in my role I would say trust the knowledge you have in your craft and where experience has led you. Your confidence, conviction and passion create the best results in every creative project. To be the creative director of Studio 56 you have to have a strong foundation in motion graphic design, video and animation, balanced with a deep knowledge of how to communicate a message and tell an engaging story in an impactful way.

Share a hobby you have or some fun fact about you: Outside of Gartner I am a video artist and live performance VJ who goes by the moniker of Holly Danger. (This stems from my full name, Holly Diane Anger.) I perform with live bands and DJs and provide a choreographed video backdrop while the musician is performing.Video_installation_Stamford_ArtWalk

A lot of my video work has developed from my passion for stop-motion animation and experimental films. A few years ago I won an award from the Digital Graffiti Festival in Alys Beach Florida for “Most Innovative Animation” for a piece I created called “Soul Seasons.”

Later this summer I am opening up a studio and art space called the “Danger Gallery,” where I will be curating special events including group and solo art shows, live music, creative workshops, film nights and video installations. I’m really excited to share this with our community and looking forward to launching soon. Please visit if you are interested in learning more about it.

How has Gartner helped you in your career development? When I first came to Gartner, my background had been working in the advertising industry for six years as a broadcast graphic designer. I was ready for a new challenge. I was looking to develop my skills and learn new techniques as an editor and motion graphics designer and find new opportunities to work on my craft every single day. Thankfully I was brought into an incredible and fast-growing team, which allowed me to have a lot of creative input and take the lead on many high-profile projects. I’m happy to say that because of my unique skill set in this area, I helped grow the importance of motion graphics within Gartner and have since developed a team dedicated to this art that didn’t exist before I joined the team. Gartner has grown my career from Senior Interactive Editor to Art Director and now to Creative Director. I am constantly learning new things every day and putting my unique talents into collaborative efforts with my team.
