Why do you like working at Gartner?
While there are quite a few factors that contribute to why I like life at Gartner (#LifeatGartner) my main reasons are the people, the resources and the ability to see how I directly impact our growth. The bright, fun people I get to work with are extremely driven and collaborative in ways that I have not seen exhibited elsewhere. The array of resources to support me in my role are vast, still growing and constantly being improved upon to make me more effective. Given how empowered I am in hiring great talent, I know that the high quality folks I bring on will make an immediate impact on Gartner’s growth trajectory. Combining all of this together, it’s tough not to run into work in the morning!
What advice do you have for someone just starting out in your role?
Take time to understand the many areas of Gartner’s business model and how they interact. It’s easy to solely focus all learning efforts into your direct business unit though you won’t be able to effectively harness all of the resources this network could put you in touch with until you know the details of our business and how the units rely on each other. In an environment where we’re all trying to meet and exceed client expectations, taking the time to understand the Gartner model will help you to impress your first clients: colleagues. Bring an insatiable learning appetite and never stop learning.
What part of your job do you enjoy most?
I love all of the positive ways I make an impact (offering a role or career of a lifetime to a candidate, improving a process or helping to build brand awareness, etc.) though regardless of what I’m doing and the reasons why, the best part is the “thank you” I get for my effort. I know I’m very much so valued for who I am and what I do.
Share a hobby you have or some fun fact about you
As a foodie, I thought I was a good cook until I got on Pinterest; now I know I’m a novice cook who enjoys trying new cuisines particularly learning how to make my favorite takeout meals at home! My next challenge is learning how to make authentic Korean food.
