A Day in the Life of an Analyst at Gartner IT Symposium XPO 2019 USA – day 2 October 22 2019

Awoke at 6.20am tired.  Still not sleeping that well and my Oura ring confirmed it with a drop in  sleep score from 90 to 79.  Latency (fell asleep too fast) and restfulness are the problem.  Need to get to bed a little earlier tonight if I am to get my scores up and feel more refreshed tomorrow morning.

6.50am Mused.  A little earlier than yesterday but a little calmer (or more tired?) than the previous day.

7.25 Downstairs to get my first café mocha.  Ring home – check on family.  Read CNBC headlines.  Reading about Bill McDermott now CEO (or to be) at ServiceNow…

8..15am Headed over to 1-1 booth for a day at the office.  Turns out I am in booth 98 all day.  What ever happened to being number 1????

8.30am at the booth.  Here we go.

Out of interest, the sun was out today.  Not like the storms yesterday.  Here is the view yesterday from booth 1:

3.30pm End of 1-1’s for now; headed back to the Swan for a client meeting.   A large public sector client with difficult D&A challenges.  Have been working then for some time and very keen and happy to re-connect and help them get moving again.  Focus was getting started with a business-driven D&A governance program in an extremely complex organization with many leaders overlapping jurisdiction.  This was a 3-rings project on steroids!

5.10pm Rush back over to the 1-1 area for final 1-1 today…  Here is a summary of my 1-1’s today (including Monday’s data):

6.20pm back at my room and felt exhausted.  Didn’t feel like Micky.  Took in a quick meal, prepared some work for next week (it is year-end planning) and went to bed early.  Watched an episode of West Wing to help wind down.  Felt like I was asleep before 9.45pm
