Three “Must Read” Research Notes for Data Management Strategies

by Andrew White  |  November 29, 2017  |  Comments Off on Three “Must Read” Research Notes for Data Management Strategies

In a short period of time my data management colleagues published three really interesting and notable pieces of research.  The timing, scope and relevance cannot be overstated here.  These notes are really important to any data and analytics leaders, and I include chief data officers here, CIO’s and senior architects, who are looking to modernize and leverage integration and data management for better business outcomes:

  1. Top Three Acts to Renew Your Data Integration Strategy for Digital Business
    • In October Mei Selvage and Eric Thoo wrioe, “Digital business has intensified the scale and complexity of data integration. Data and analytics leaders must implement three top acts — assess data integration needs, adopt a portfolio-based approach and explore emerging integration trends — when renewing their data integration strategies.”
  2. Solve Your Data Challenges With the Data Management Infrastructure Mode
    • Also in October Adam Ronthal and Nick Heudecker (the new Agenda Manager for Data Management Strategies) wrote, “Investment in data management infrastructure has outpaced development of the necessary alignment of technologies, skills, processes and governance across data management initiatives. Data and analytics leaders should use this model to rationalize their data management strategies and infrastructure.”
  3. Modern Data Management Requires a Balance Between Collecting Data and Connecting to Data
    • Again in October Roxane Edjlali (the outgoing Agenda Manager for Data Management Strategies) and Ted Friedman wrote, “Because data is the most valuable resource in the digital business era, collecting it using only a centralized management approach is no longer viable. Data and analytics leaders need to take an aggressive approach that creates an appropriate balance between data collection and data connection.”

I hope you like these notes and can agree on their importance.  They should add value to your business.
