Lord have mercy, Rita and I are finally done the 2008 Information Access Technology Magic Quadrant (Gartner subscription required). Every year I swear the next year won’t run as tight against the deadline, and considering that we had a full four hours to spare this year, I can proudly say I finally accomplished that goal.
Magic [...]

Gartner conferences make me so proud.
The Portals, Content and Collaboration conference — the fifth of its kind — just finished in Los Angeles. I planned it with my co-chair, Carol Rozwell, who recently joined the collaboration team and is turning in a stellar performance in e-learning, a passion for her.
Carol and I started planning for [...]

I used the following analogies for the future of content management architectures today:
1. Halloween costumes assembled at order time.
2. People who flip through shows with the remote.

Vendor review means that the vendors mentioned in the research note see elements of the RU draft, [...]

On my personal blog, I’ve been chronicling my attempts to work my way through 1000 Recordings To Hear Before You Die, and today was Punk. I fell into it via the Ramones yesterday and today I spent drilling deep into Gang of Four’s Entertainment and The Clash’s London Calling. Something the book’s author, Tom Moon, [...]

Like many Dads, I am delighted that digital makes artists of us all. I looked at this picture this morning with my son — he’s wearing the burgundy shirt — and I told him it’s my favorite picture from yesterday. We talked about why (it has some nice stylistic touches that I lucked into) and [...]

I’ve been working with Rita Knox on the last bitter moments of the 2008 Information Access Technology Magic Quadrant. Every year I swear I won’t be up against a deadline — I’ll just finish it when it’s convenient, you know? Before the back to school thing, before the Symposium thing swings into full-on mode, before [...]
