Pew: Internet and mobiles bring families closer together — what does that mean for enterprise IT?

The latest Pew Internet and American Life study presents survey data suggesting that the Internet and cell phones are helping bring families closer together. The full report leads off with the conclusion that “Technology now permeates American households and has become a central feature of families’ day-to-day lives.”

This isn’t technology for technology’s sake. Indeed, it is only as technology has become more reliable and easier to operate (and as people gain experience with and confidence with) these tools that they have come to permeate American life.

The more “natural” these technologies become, the more the technology gets subsumed by the social processes these technologies support.

Enterprise IT has made a lot of this happen, by acquainting employees with many of these tools.

How is your enterprise helping its employees practice safe technology-use practices, both inside the enterprise and when employees are elsewhere?

What best practices are you seeing? What worst practices?
