Richard HunterRichard Hunter, Gartner vice president and George Westerman of MIT’s Sloan Center for Information Systems Research, were on hand yesterday to sign copies of their book,The Real Business of IT, How CIOs Create and Communicate Value.

Looking for reading material for the plane ride home? Stop by the Gartner Bookstore in the Dolphin and pick up a copy of the The Real Business of IT, Event Processing or any of the other books available for purchase. The bookstore will be open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Thursday Morning Update


Our final day at Symposium promises to be as jam-packed as the first. Today’s highlights include:

  • ITxpo show floor, open from noon to 2 p.m.

Homeward Bound

For those heading home, Mears provides easy transportation to Orlando Airport. Make your reservations at the Mears transportation desk in the lobby of the Dolphin Hotel. Reservations are required 90 minutes prior to departure and there is a 24-hour service phone if there’s no one at the desk.

If you have a full day planned for tomorrow and are heading out tomorrow night, you can stow your luggage on-site after you check out of your hotel. Any of the conference hotels where meetings are being held will be able to hold your luggage while you pack in that last session.

Global IT Council Announced

Global CIO Gartner has established a Global IT Council aimed at engaging the global IT community in collaborative activity to address two challenging issues – “cloud computing” and “IT maintenance” – that broadly affect IT industry progress and impact large companies. Read more »

PROGRAM CHANGE

Today’s Gartner Magic Quadrant for Master Data Management of Product Data has been moved to a later time and new location. The session will now be held this evening (Wednesday) from 6:30 – 6:50 p.m. in the Cool Vendor Theater.

The Cool Vendor Theater sits between the Atlantic and Pacific Halls of the Dolphin Hotel Lower Level (ITxpo Level).
