This has been a long week. It started with our Sourcing Summit event in central London, then a presentation to 30 visiting CIOs from Singapore at our European headquarters in Egham mid-week, then on to our IT Finance Summit, also in London. I was a bit tired heading out to Germany last night but my meeting today with BMW CIO Karl-Erich Probst went very well. He certainly has a cool story to share about how they manage IT. We spent a couple of hours preparing, at BMW’s modern IT headquarters building in Munich.
Herr Probst has graciously accepted our invitation to be one of our Barcelona Symposium ‘mastermind’ interviews. I’ll be doing that one on stage to an audience of over 3000 IT professionals – with my colleague Massimo Pezzini.
What would you ask? I’d like to hear from you – respond here or by mail to mark dot raskino at gartner dot com.

I would like to know what role security plays in a car manufacturer that allows connectivity with mobile phones and the internet as a whole? How do they ensure privacy and integrity of the information and source that it is communicating with? Also how do you decide what apps to allow access to what information and where to disallow access.
