Gartner is moving forward in the Web 2.0 world. I’m in Gartner’s Industry and Advisory Services group. We focus on industry specific strategies and technologies. In the banking world, this tends to translate into things like social lending, mobile financial services and non-bank providers like PayPal and Virgin Money.

The purpose of this blog is to engage with the broader Web community (you!) and to enhance our research.My personal focus is lending and payments, but in this blog we will also focus on issues across banking and investment services (including a lot of cool stuff my colleagues are looking at). Here are some of the key issues we will focus on in this blog over the next several months:

• How can you leverage technology to make better business decisions?
• How can you successfully distribute and sell your products and services, and how can you improve future financial performance?
• How can you manage IT as a percentage of revenue while improving performance?
• Which innovation strategies and technologies should you pursue to ensure strategic impact during the next five years?
