It has been a demanding year. If you were fortunate enough to have a job, the demands of keeping it most likely caused stress. If you don’t have a job, the stress is even more painful. I started the year by saying that I was happy to be on the green side of the grass and have a job, but I soon slipped into GDD. Gratefulness Deficit Disorder (GDD) is easy to fall into these days as the view of the big picture of blessing gets masked by day to day pressures and/or annoyances.
As I count my blessings this year I can’t help but feel a sense of peace. Sherry and I have three new grandchildren
My family is healthy and all are gainfully employed. I have enough to share with others in their day of need and try to do so. I can see the beauty of nature all around, even in the bustle of cities. I can see the beauty of souls of the people I meet when I look them in the eye. I have learned to express more thoughts and emotions through my blog and paintings. I am thankful to have the freedom to express myself in a wholesome way without censure. I am thankful to be able to laugh and enjoy others. I am delighted that the U.S. is trying to be a better world citizen, not just trough giving away money, but through dialog with diverse cultures and countries.
Thankfulness is the seed that grows personal peace. Personal peace is the seed for the elusive societal peace. Societal peace is the seed for the elusive world piece. I can only control one of these. I need to be more thankful and be vigilant to fight GDD. If you hear me grumble, please remind me of someone less fortunate.

Nice post and thoughts for the week. The foundation of thankfulness is humility and it certainly is the seed for peace. Hope you have a nice Thanksgiving.
