With Unified Communications Emerging, Can “Follow Me Processes” be Far Off?

November 11th, 2009 · 5 Comments

Today processes are getting smarter in understanding how to parcel out work to process participants based on work loads, roles, experience and skills. I expect that this sophistication will continue to develop as organizations get better at linking workloads with incoming work and smart utilization of process resources including their workforces. A new dimension is emerging for leveraging resources no matter where they at any moment leveraging unified communications (UC).

Not only will unified communications leverage different kind of devices dynamically, UC will allow organizations to leverage dynamically mobile workers while the workers can indicate what device they want their process participation to occur on and indicate when they might be available to help. Presence and availability will be leveraged considering time zone synchrony. Collaboration will be possible through different channels such as telephony, instant messaging, email, and personalized work environments.

UC offers the ability to improve how individuals, groups and companies interact and perform. UC products are used by peoples to facilitate collaboration and process participation. I expect that UC can extend outside company boundaries to enhance communication and process participation. Look for BPM vendors to start offering more UC capabilities through partnerships.

    Hi,

Technology really leverage the way people work and collaborate. But it often offers sophistication and complexity then again getting familiar with technology such as unified communication or unified messaging really benefits both the business and workers.
