Retailing in a Multichannel World

Welcome to the first installment of the Industry Market Strategies blog.   I hope to use this forum to create a multidirectional conversation to discuss verticalization in the technology service provider community in general and anything retail in specific.  With my teammates in IMS we spend a great deal of time studying financial services, manufacturing, telecom, media, oil and gas healthcare, wholesale, transportation and of course my favorite industry, retail.  We believe we have a lot of insight.  But we are always on the hunt for a new piece of data or an insight or a thought that could turn our thinking upside down.  Do you have that?  Will you share it?

This will not be a standard Gartner deliverable underpinned by survey data and exhaustively peer reviewed.  This is basically Gartner analyst unplugged. I count on drawing in my colleagues from IMS and the IAS Retail for additional thoughts. It’s exciting and a little scary.  So send me your thoughts, ideas, suggestions and tips on new and interesting technologies to look at.  Come on in and join me on this unscripted journey into the 21 century,

Next week I will be reporting from Oracle’s Openworld.
