Catalyst for identity professionals: We’ve got both kinds of content!

by Ian Glazer  |  July 2, 2013  |  2 Comments

We are less than 30 days out from Catalyst and I can tell you that the team is pumped to be back on stage talking identity with all of you. Recently, I was talking to a veteran Catalyst attendee who wanted to know what he could expect in terms of identity content at Catalyst. He observed that the show has changed a little in terms of format and wanted to know what would be waiting for him in San Diego.

Let me come right out and say it: Catalyst has changed format over the last few years. We have been molding Catalyst into the more technical peer of Symposium. The goal is to deliver in-depth material relating to the IT trends that are dominating your world. To that end, we have made Catalyst bit more theme-related and a bit less specific to any one research team. Thats why you’ll find conference tracks on mobility, cloud, and big data. But, as you well know, you cant meet mobility, cloud, and big data needs without having a solid security and identity platform from which to work. And this is why we have a dedicated security and identity track at this years Catalyst.

We are presenting our identity research in two ways. First, Monday morning the team and I are going to be talking about pure identity topics: IAM in the modern era, managing non-workforce identities, and adaptive access control. We are also going to hosting a identity standards smackdown in which luminaries from the IAM world will represent OAuth, OpenID Connect, SAML, SCIM, and XACML and in short bursts will try and convince you how their standards can help you build meaningful applications.

But identity doesnt exist in a vacuum. To be truly valuable to our enterprises, we as IAM professionals must aid our peers in mobile, cloud, and big data projects. To that end, we are presenting a bunch of research in the Mobile, Cloud, and Big Data tracks. By attending these sessions you will not only understand how IAM and your team are relevant to those endeavors but also what you can do to provide indispensable identity services.

What follows is a list of all of our IAM-related sessions at Catalyst. See you in San Diego!
