Multifunction Firewall MarketScope Upgraded To Magic Quadrant

by Greg Young  |  March 17, 2009  |  2 Comments

The MarketScope for Small and Midsize Business (SMB) Multifunction Firewalls is being upgraded to a Magic Quadrant (MQ) for 2009.  The involved vendors have already been notified.  Adam and I will change roles for this research note – he will be lead author I’ll be his co-author.

A MarketScope is used where a market is less established or too small to qualify for a MQ.  If a market is too small or not established enough for a MarketScope, we cover it through individual research notes and/or inquiry with our customers.  Sometimes a market never evolves, or rockets up to an MQ and stays well established.

The Hype Cycles are good companion guides to the MQs and MarketScopes in aid of understanding what relative state a security market is in.

You can find a list here of all the MQs and MarketScopes, and here the Hype Cycles we publish during the year.

Great move! So now what would it take to recognize that so called multi-function firewalls are viable in the enterprise as well?
