I enjoyed Jennifer Leggio’s post on the ebbs and flows of favoring a social media type.
I’ve been a social networking curmudgeon. I don’t really Facebook, I am not all aTwitter, and I am unLinkedIn. I see the value in these, it is just that it is pretty much my full time job to be connected to our customers, albeit through our Customer Service Organization rather than via social media.
As an extension of my Gartner blog commitment, I am going to increase my use of LinkedIn, for which my profile is here.

Great idea Greg. Though, in truth, Linkedin is a tool for 1. finding a job, 2. finding clients. Period.
You may consider Twitter just so you can practice being succinct (not saying your not, just that a 140 character limit imposes discipline).
You will not be alone: Look at all these analysts that are already on Twitter.

I am conciously not Twittering because of concerns of client confidentiality. I guess I was in in the sneaky-squirrel business for too long.
