Perspective is often lost in ITsecurity by not keeping in mind the comparisons of the non-wired world. An example (a good one that is) is in this post where John Pescatore gives a 12 word description on cyberterrorism.
This week in Toronto a widely reported and bizarre scenario allegedly took place, where it is alleged the top lawyer for a large NY law firm allegedly went to a meeting at a pension fund and after allegedly getting the business card of their lead counsel allegedly stayed behind and allegedly passed himself off as that lead counsel allegedly using that business card and allegedly negotiated a large deal with an investor. The story is odd but an 8 figure deal was said to have been involved and no hacking was required.
My point: most of your losses will come from non-IT sources or ones that use IT incidentally. Or by being sued for not saying allegedly.
