Amusing post Frank. A lot of people who are extremely price conscious and thus go with free file transfer/one-click hosting sites (and even “pro-sumer” solutions) don’t see the value of a fully secure managed file transfer solution built specifically for business requirements until it all hits the fan. We’ve been trying to communicate this same message out for years now, and just recently posted about this in particular in our blog – http://blog.leapfile.com/2009/06/dont-get-a-file-transfer-solution-lemon.html. An interesting, true story illustrating perfectly some drawbacks of free services! Using them, you’ve got security and confidentiality and as much reliability as you pay for: none. This story reinforces the obvious value managed file transfer can bring to businesses, but also indicates that when you realize it, it’s often too late. Many thanks, Frank, for this example. You don’t miss a thing on MFT, even when it comes from a music superstar!

Whilst this faux pas has probably given Cassie more airtime I’d be concerned if her production company didn’t have in place and MFT which all artists had to use for demo’s and tracks.
